Setting up Community Councils
Community Council elections
A Community Council will be established if it receives sufficient nominations during a community council election. Following the Community Council elections in 2025, 40 out of 47 Community Councils were established. The following Community Councils were not established:
- Craigmillar
- Davidson's Mains and Silverknowes
- Firrhill
- Hutchison / Chesser
- Muirhouse / Salvesen
- Portobello
- West Pilton / West Granton
Requests to form a Community Council
If your community currently does not have a Community Council, you will need to get at least 20 people in the area to support the request.

Update on Portobello Community Council election
In the third call for nominations, there were not enough nominations recieved to establish the Community Council.
Next city-wide Community Council elections 2029
The next city-wide community elections are scheduled for 2029. We will update this page with more information in 2029 or earlier if the date changes.
