Queensferry High Street improvements

Queensferry town centre improvements

We’re investing £3.5 million to improve Queensferry High Street and the town centre for residents, shoppers and businesses. The project will

  • reduce traffic with a one-way (eastbound) road layout, similar to the current temporary measures
  • widen pavements and create more space for walking, wheeling and cycling
  • improve areas where people may stop, rest and enjoy the views

The project will focus on

  • resurfacing the High Street, using high quality materials
  • narrowing Newhalls Road leading up to the Hawes Car Park

This will mean we can create a new segregated cycleway, for westbound cyclists, from the Hawes Car Park into the High Street.

Since we finished the first phase of work at the junction with the Loan, we have been working hard to secure funding to deliver more improvements to Queensferry’s High Street.

The final proposal for the layout of the High Street, was approved at the Council Transport and Environment Committee.

You can view the technical drawings for the project as pdf downloads. Please note that these are not fully accessible. If you would like any help with these, please email robert.armstrong@edinburgh.gov.uk
